The Birdhouse Hospitality

Three Places Worth Going

Dharamkot · Bir · McLeodganj — five boutique properties across the most interesting corners of Himachal Pradesh.

We started with one guesthouse in Dharamkot. Over the years, the places we kept returning to — Bir with its paragliding thermals and oak forests, McLeodganj with its layered Tibetan and Himachali character — became homes for more properties. Each place is genuinely different. Each stay is designed for it.

Himachal Pradesh

Dharamkot

A village above McLeodganj in the Kangra valley. Deodar forest, the Triund trailhead at the top of the lane, a small community of long-term residents from across India and the world. Quieter and less commercial than McLeodganj below, with the same Dhauladhar backdrop.

Himachal Pradesh

Bir

A small market town in the Kangra valley, best known for the Billing paragliding site 14km up the mountain. Less visited than Dharamsala, with a distinct Tibetan colony, tea gardens on the valley floor, and a quieter pace that rewards a few nights.

Himachal Pradesh

McLeodganj

The seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile, with the Tsuglagkhang monastery, a Tibetan market, and the Dhauladhar range rising directly behind the town. Busier than Dharamkot, more layered in character — easier to spend a week here without running out of things to do.
